Genuinely Jane Studios & Art Antologhy = Match Made in Heaven!

Good Morning! Grab your coffee and be ready for inspiration. All week long Genuinely Jane Studios and Art Anthology has teamed up to bring you amazing projects full of so much creativity, that for me, I am planning on spending the weekend in my studio because I am so inspired! Today I have a fun birthday album I made using the Genuinely Jane Studios 6x6 Wood Book and a handful of Art Anthology goodies, Sorbet Dimensional Paint, Colorations Color Spray, and Dimensional Crystal, which by the way is my new can't live without product! Now, let's get creative... Here is my birthday hat book! The birthday hat is something I found years ago at a little boutique. It has become a tradition on birthdays to wear it! ...or at least have your picture made in it!

 

I used paper from Glitz Designs "Birthday Wishes". The first thing I did was paint all the pages of my Wood Album. I have talked about this before, but one thing that I just love about the Genuinely Jane Studios Albums is that they are wood. It gives you the freedom to paint, spray, paste, add embellishments, etc... without buckling or wrinkling. I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints to paint the pages. To get the muted colors I added just a small small smidge of black to each color to tone it down.

 

I then used the Art Anthology Color Spray to spray each page. This worked out really kind of awesome because when I covered my pages with paper it smeared and gave a green tint to my multi-medium. I really liked how it turned out...

 

 

...and then I covered each page, front and back, with the Glitz paper. If you click HERE you can see how I cover my albums with paper using the multi-medium. This is my favorite go to method to insure a smooth, wrinkle free outcome.

I cut paper down to make more pages in between the wood pages. Using a Black Paint Dabber I inked up all the edges of pretty much everything... There are pockets, tags, and hidden spots all throughout the book and lots of room to add more birthday hat pictures!

Using the Dimensional Crystal I made my own bling to put throughout the album. I did this simply by putting the Crystal on my craft mat and then letting it dry. They popped right off to give me bling completely custom for my project!

 
There are some pictures that the Birthday Hat is missing in action. As I was creating this album and looking for pictures it was really neat seeing how I have changed over the years... so I made one section for me. I started it with 2013 and am working backwards to include birthday pictures from the past.



I told you that I love the Dimensional Crystal... well, once again... I LOVE IT! It is so easy to work with which gives you so much freedom with the product. Here is on of my favorite pages. I used the Crystal to free hand swirls and flourishes!

Art Anthology

A Picture Show Layout

Happy Sunday. It is a rainy day  and the plan is to stay in pj's and create all day. Right now I am sipping on my coffee and listening to the rain come down. Peaceful.

 

 Today I am sharing a layout that I did a few weekends ago.

 

To create this look, I took an 8 x 10 and cut it into 4 strips and then adhered it to a background piece of paper.

 

This side was fun... Ink, Frosted Film, Paint, & Stenciling...

I used paint and an ink blending foam to stencil on to the piece of acetate.

Falling for a Transfer Technique!

Today I have a fun transfer technique to share with you guys. Using Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas, Bo Bunny Paper, & the awesome Alterable Pumpkin from Genuinely Jane Studios I was able to create these pumpkins for my Fall Centerpiece:

 

Here's the how to:

 

I started with the bare alterable pumpkin from Genuinely Jane Studios:

 

I painted them both with a base coat.

Now for the fun! To transfer! Here is my paper and Sticky Back Canvas all cut to size. 

 

 Pull the backing off the Sticky Back Canvas...

 

 Take your paper and put face down onto the Sticky Back Canvas. The side you want needs to be the side that touching the sticky part. Then burnish real good.

Using scissors score the paper

Mist with water

Then using your fingers, start rubbing off the top layers of the paper. This step takes a bit of time.. 

...and keep rubbing...

...keep going...

Once it is all rubbed off, you will take Multi-Medium and spread a layer onto your now transferred paper. This will help get rid of all the little stray fibers.

I just use my fingers to spread it around...



Then let it dry.

 

I painted the pumpkins with Distress Paints. I randomly dabbed out colors and then used an ink blending tool to blend all the colors together.

 

All blended together:

I used the Eroded Metal Technique that I learned in Creative Chemistry 102 on two sides. 

Once the Multi-Medium dried, I cut out strips and adhered to my pumpkin. 

 

I outlined with paint and then painted a layer over it using Art Anthology Sorbet in Outrageous Orange. This is a new favorite product!

For the stems I used wire, twine, burlap, Glassine, Grungepaper, Corrugated Paper, Sticky Back Canvas and the Tim Holtz Alterations Dies: Tattered Leaves & Tattered Pinecone.

 

I am so happy with how my pumpkins turned out and they look fabulous on my table with my vases and table runner.

A Little Sweetness For Your Day...

Happy Friday! OMG, who else is looking forward to the weekend and celebrating that we made through the week!

 

Today I have a layout that I created using a little mixed media and super cute paper from Basic Grey's Knee Highs & Bowties Collection.

 

The corrugated strip is just white cardstock that I colored with Gelatos and then ran through my Fiskars Paper Crimper. The flowers were paper Hero Arts Flowers that I covered in Tim Holtz Crackle Paint in Rock Candy. 

 

 

 I layered a few patterns and embellishments. For the title I wrote the first part and used a Studio Calico wood embellishment for "play".

You can see that I did a little stamping with paint.

A Paper Pad to Remember....

It all started with a paper pad... We saw each other. It was love at first sight. It's been so long since I have had this feeling. Creative little butterflies started fluttering in my stomach. This was it! This was the paper I needed. Angels sung and harps played.

 

Ok, I know a little... "intense"??? Both of my local scrapbook stores closed this past year. It has been hell on my paper addiction. Really! Serious. I miss picking it up, feeling it, choosing the individual sheets, that, when I put them together, will be my very own masterpiece. The way it smells, the way it feels... My name is Christine and I am a complete paper whore!

 

...but I am a paper snob as well. I was spoiled on the thick double-sided sheets you buy from scrapbook stores. The paper at other stores... it's just thin and most of it is single sided.. It just doesn't do it for me. So, when I found myself staring at this little gemstone at Hobby Lobby Monday I was floored! I had to have it... and so I whipped out my 40% off coupon, (you know what I'm talking about...!) and off I went!

Once I got it home, I instantly went to town... Multi-Medium & Iridescent Medium to add a little shimmer in the background. Black Paint and Distress Glitter thrown on there for a little bling!

I used some di-cuts I cut out from Tim Holtz Alterations Dies:

Weathered Clock & Scrollwork

They were cut out of Grungeboard and Grungepaper and altered.

 

Some embellishments from the paper pad were distressed, ink, & added. I used Inkessentials Enamel Accents in Black to outline around the border.

 

For my title, I went old school! I pulled out my Quickutz Revolution and Dies:
